May 2007: the new AF3V website has been put online with English translations,
foreign tourists can now get English information about cycle routes and greenways in France
On May 12th 2007, AF3V put its improved website online.
New for 2007, the site offers an English version which can be accessed by clicking the British flag in the French home page.
The English translation is not complete, but it already allows foreign tourists to explore the AF3V site easily and to find all the French cycle itineraries (waymarked routes and greenways).
The following can be read in English:
= the website home page
= the pages for searching a route by criteria (location, possible activities, type of route, length, keywords)
= the "Description of the route" page
The latter provides all the necessary basic information: name of the route, type, origin, length, location, type of surface, possible activities, links to reviews and photos...
In May 2007 the descriptions of routes (summary and complete descriptions) are still generally given in French*.
AF3V is currently working on English translations of more general pages and especially the route descriptions.
This is a huge challenge, which will be time-consuming and expensive. AF3V hope to get private and public help to get this work done quickly.
You can help by sending English reviews of any routes that you use.
However, the new partially-translated AF3V website is already a useful and useable tool for promoting French cycle routes and greenways.
* routes with complete English translation (on May 22, 2007):
"Voie Verte du canal du Midi Toulouse-Port-Lauragais"
"La Coulée Verte du Sud Parisien"
"LaPiste des Bords de Seine et de Marne"
"Voie Verte Chemin de la Moselle"
