パラパラ or ParaPara

Having set foot in ParaPara land Japan. Having miserably failed an attempt to demonstrate my パラパラ skills to the crew onboard my Osaka flight. I will tell you more about this crazy thing. But hey ! You are wondering what ParaPara is ? Well take a look at these sad frenchies having a go at what only Japanese can achieve (not to mention but the guy in the stripe t-shirt looks dead serious about his new hobby !)…

It must take quite some time to remember all those moves. Way too much for my little brain. It’s already a miracle if I can remember 5 crew names out of 16 (but sometimes, you gotta admit it’s hard trying to memorise Korean names or even Thai names !).
So ParaPara was born in Japan a few years ago. Para Para is performed using mostly arm movements; very little lower body movement is involved save for perhaps moving one’s hips or stepping in place, although a few routines require more detailed leg motions. It has been speculated that it is a descendant of the traditional Bon Odori dance. The dance originated from the early days in the 80’s when men working in the VIP room in clubs would choreograph dances to impress the women. The dance style then grew from there. The dances are performed to fast, upbeat music such as Eurobeat. Fans of Para Para dancing often call themselves “Paralists”.
To finish off, please take a look at the guy who brought the movement, the guy looks soooooo over bored doing his routine. Also Mickey Mouse is part of the ordeal if you care to watch !
