Making love to the telephone in October

Yes, that’s right. I’ll be sleeping with my telephone right next to me for the whole month of October (minus 11 days) cause it’s my reserve month. Probably the worst month a Cabin Crew doesn’t look forward to. Basically it means you’re on standby to fill gaps for missing/hangover/sick/depressed/partygoers colleagues. You’re at home hanging over the telephone waiting for a call from our dearest scheduling to tell you you’re bound for a destination. It could be anywhere. I hope I get pulled out only for the nicest layovers ! Anyways I managed to squeeze in a few holidays in there too so I can getaway from boredom a little and adventure somewhere nice… Here’s it was my roster looks like :

  1. You should be alright, there are so many GR2’s nowdays that rather than be pulled out you should spend most of your time in the apt watching DVD’s. On my last reserve I only got 2 layovers and constant flights to Muscat, Amman and Karachi. I was nearly in tears I tell you.
Also be prepared for RSV in November, they make you make up for the days you miss out on with leave… I have both RSV and Leave in Oct as well so we’re both in the same boat. :-(

  2. At least you guys have got snazzy apartments to hang out in! Stayed with my pal over the weekend who works for Emirates…you guys have got it sorted shelter wise. Crossing fingers for you, that you get some decent layovers. Any plans for the hols?
