Paris, Parisians, Smoothies, Ecology, Music.

We’ve redecorated the blog a little, and a new background has made it live as well as some tasteful ceiling lampshades, hope you enjoy them. We thinks it makes it a little more cosy. Tell us what you think in the comment section below !

Good to ride those heavy bikes again. I miss my green means of transportation. Velib’ is the best thing since they invented the wheel. Today was the official comeback of the Velib’ in my fuel charged lifestyle. I mean my carbon footprint will be remembered for sure. I do not drive myself. I have yet to get my license. Instead I either walk or get driven. And because you’d be a complete twat to ride a pushbike on the roads of Dubai, I’ve kinda left this occupation to one side. Focusing on cabs instead.

But now I’m back in Paris, I’m very keen on turning my guilty ecological conscience back to something somewhat normal. So I ride a bike. Not only do you appreciate the views a lot more, but you can feel your muscles working more at the same time. Sounds like I’m discovering all of this but I’m the kind to skip the gym to stuff myself with Krispy Kreme doughnuts, Popcorn and a Coke at the flicks. So the fact that I’m doing a little sport at times means a hell a lot to me !

On another health(y) topic, just like GirlOnTour, I (today only) discovered smoothies. Mother and Father got a brand new blender to play with after drifting in awwww with the Nicaraguan Pina Coladas a few weeks ago. This thing is THE shiz. I’m telling you. Having so much vitamins injected at once in my body is just very new to me. I know I have the most unhealthy diet in the world but I’m trying hard to change that. And a good start for me is to blend stuff into something fluid. Because I think it’s very entertaining at first and secondly because it tastes quite nice. So after taking a good look at the monster when I woke up this morning afternoon. I thought I’d throw in some bananas, apples, mango sorbet, oranges and a yogurt. Just to see how the thing works. I blended the mix for around 10 minutes so that Vitamin A and Vitamin B could make love. Poured the potion into a glass (of course, I’m not that dumb!) and just got the mix down my neck. WOW. Drinking that was just WOW. Instantly, It felt like I just piled into an upsized burger king double whopper meal with side orders of Chicken Fries and Onion rings (my usual dinner really), but only this time it felt good. I didn’t feel guilty at all. But just proud. It’s amazing how far a blender can take you. But it’s true. I felt really proud of myself ! A real breakfast. Something I do forget on a daily basis.

Otherwise, this time more of the cultural aspect of my first day in Paris, I must let you know that you can listen to my mates new material on his facebook page. They’re planning on shooting a video to promote their upcoming album. And I should be able to attend the whole wooha sometime this week.

Their band name is The Ducs-Ovnies, a play on words with a famous actor that recently underwent a treatment for his sexual addictions and two other french words. Ducs for Duke, and Ovnies for UFOs. Yeah I know, it’s a little loopy. Don’t ask me why. But that’s the way it is. So these guys rock out a 60’s – 70’s style of sound with, at times a little twist in the 80’s. The whole thing comes alive on set when these three take it to the stage. Benjamin on base guitar (who I had the extreme pleasure of flying over to Dub-Dub back in September), Takumi on lead guitar/voice and Anthony on the drums. They need your help today, if you could add their Facebook page by becoming a fan, you’ll make Airboy happy cause they won’t ask for free plugs again. They promised.

But most importantly here. I’d like to showcase the work of Paul Grelet, another close friend of mine who does very good illustrations and especially gig posters. If you have a band and want to get a professionally looking gig poster, then get in touch with him. He will turn your Windows Paint scribbles into something quite amazing. He’s a grad student of one of the best design & arts school in Paris and is currently working in one of the upcoming marketing agencies here in France. Just check out the cover art he made for The Ducs-Ovnies :

Be sure to check out his other stuff over at his online portfolio : www.mybookonline.fr

Voila, that’s pretty much all for my first day in Paris. Will update you later on in the week for sure. I also know some of you are asking for DOWNLOADABLES… I’m currently working on it. Bear with me. It’s on its way.

  2. LOVE THE NEW BACKGROUND. Genius!

Thanks for the plug too….really appreciate it.

Pleased to see also you are getting into the new smoothies. My new CHAMPION juicer should waiting for me at home when I arrive in a few days which will make all the difference for me. I also just got back from a 7 day fast retreat in Koh Samui (might be going a bit too far for you just yet!) but looking forward to talking about it.

Let us all know what other concoctions you come up with and go on, give the GREEN smoothie a shot soon!

  4. How cute are those lampshades? I especially love the one with the brown knit – reminds me of a jumper dad wore late 80’s early 90’s. So retro!
