Stats Exposed.

Exposing website stats is usually very uncommon within the blogging world. Or in the entire web for that matter. Those are very sensible pieces of information that every webmaster/blog owner is keen to keep uber-private. Especially in a business driven environment. But for people like me statistics are a way of understanding where my readers comes from, what they look for and where they go when they’re done. It also tells me with amazing precision what system you use, mac or windows, which explorer you run on etc… enabling me to adapt the content and structure of the blog accordingly. In worse cases, I have access to every visitors IP address letting me block certain users. In most cases it’s spamming robots. But I can block a reader if his actions on the blog are against the Terms Of Use and for the sake of decency. But with the likes of Wordpress and Akismet I have enough systems to prevent anything like that to happen.

The busiest week in the blog’s history to date is the 41st week of 2008 with 4587 views. And the most visited month was October this year clocking at 17,690 views. The average views per day is 568 with peaks when I post new mp3s and pictures.

Those are the top 10 websites readers go to after reading the blog. The reason behind having so many other blogs in that list is that most of these blog owners comment on my posts (leaving their URL) thus inviting others to visit their page. Also linking back or trackbacking (blogging jargon) is part of link love. Being generous with links in entries will significantly grow your readership as those plugged bloggers will at one point or another check their own statistics and link back to you when appropriate. It might be straight away or much later… This is the best linking you can get. Keep in mind that this is on a period of 365 days.

  10. shouldbewriting.blogspot.com | 108

In the last 365 days, these are the top 10 sites that have sent visitors in.You’ll understand the importance of having a facebook account with lots and lots of friends !! Also a good position in google search results will enhance you stats in a good way. Having images attached to important key words is another plus. And the quality linking from other blogs in the same niche is the best link love you can get because of the targeted visitors bringing value to your blog.

Now, an important piece of information for blog owners and webmasters is the keywords visitors used to access your site. This will tell you which keywords you should focus on while submitting posts. No wonder now that you see weird post titles on Airboy. I try as much as possible to have only keywords in the titles. Thus ranking higher up in search results. Having a combination of keywords works best. Like my most visited page to date : “A to Z Joining Emirates Cabin Crew”. As you can see there are 4 keywords used in that title. Most people looking for information on that particular topic will innevitably fall on my blog because of that. Try it for yourself in google. You’ll understand immediately. Plus having a recognizable brand within the title (here “Emirates”) adds visitors to the total bill ! So the top 10 keywords in the last 365 days typed in search engines to access my website are :

  1. Britney Spears | 13 404
  2. emirates cabin crew | 1900
  3. adele | 832
  4. airboy emirates | 475
  5. flight attendant blog | 406
  6. sodwee | 398
  7. flight attendant uniform | 305
  8. santogol + Pharell Williams | 261
  9. air boy | 178
  10. emiratesgroupcareer.com | 69

As of today and the past 365 days, 68% of you use Firefox for web browsing, 38% are avid mac users, most of you guys come from Europe and the States with an increasing number coming from Australia, the Far East and South Asia. You all stay an average of 4.8 minutes on the blog and visit on average 3 pages at for each visit.

I must thank all of my readers for coming in so regularly, for posting numerous comments and keeping this blog interesting. And thanks to every other blogger out there, Melissa, Mat, Heather, SkyHighBoy, PP, Jihan, and many others for their help. Please do go and check their rambles as it is worth the read !! And because he’s my flatmate, if you understand portuguese then head to kanagringa.blogspot.com
