Winter in Dubai. Summary of my Glaswegian stint & Jakarta meltdown.

With the winter kicking in at great speed here in Dubai, with temperatures reaching below the 20s. We can now enjoy a living room with some fresh breeze and less A/C. The joy of waking up this morning to the roaring of Sheikh Zayed, a sun filled room and fresh air was just to die for ! Love the fact we can open some of our windows… It feels a lot healthier too, just like those early summer months in Paris where Dad/Mum used to open every single window in the flat and let the air fill the place before I got up.

Just came back from my Jakarta trip. Refreshed and ready to rock after a hardcore session of eating [healthy] and lying around the pool doing stuff on the internet, chatting with friends with a beer or two. The weather was uber-humid in the afternoon but cooled off nearer to sunset. And as you probably know, if you’ve been reading the interview Heather did, this is one of my favourite hotels. Lush green surroundings, peaceful heaven of deck chairs, lit pool and christmas lamps around the trees. Nothing better to wind down after serving 405 passengers on the way over. Yes 405 passengers in economy ONLY ! A little taste of A380 for Airboy. And god the boarding was mayhem. Every single passengers was asking for their seat and being very small people in general, they couldn’t reach the bins to slam their stuff in. So guess who delt with a few hundred bags in the end ??? Well, yeah, me. We’ve been told not to though because we’re not covered if we break our back. But this was a desperate measure for an exceptional boarding. The funny thing is… The call bells in between the two service were inexistant. Leaving to monitor the cabin regularly and just chat away before our approach in CGK. The flight back was equally the same, with 15 passengers less.

As for Glasgow well…. They fo’ sure know how to ask for drinks! Our bar cart was empty on both legs. But the crew was fantastic and we had a hell of a laugh both ways. Big up to Laura from Glasgow, Rania from Lebanon, Sabrine from Paris 18, Mauricio from Brazil, Lavina from Brissie, Hugo from somewhere en Espana, Wade from down under and everyone else on that flight. As for Glasgow, I’m sorry to say I didn’t take any picture because I slept for most of the afternoon after we landed and went straight for some beers with half the crew and the flight deck at a nearby Pub. Can’t remember the name of the joint but it was close to Central Station. Good ol’ chat and came back to the hotel for some sleep. One side note, it was bloody cold out there, and I can tell you that my Trench coat came in great use. As well as my beannie hat.

Now I have a few days off to enjoy the gentleness of Dubai in November and catch up on my favourite friend ZINC. See you there tonight most probably, if not, I’ll be at lodge. Friends, check my Facebook profile for the latest !!

Peace out homies !
