Paris was cold, ZINC was hot…. Rain in Dub-Dub !

Where do I start ? It’s been pretty hectic for the last few days… Busy bee. Since I posted last we had some other antics at Zinc with a marching army of French dudes. I’d nearly forced everyone I knew in Dubai to meet up there to catch up and surprisingly a few peeps turned up. We had the pleasure of having Szilvia & Hannah, both Batchmates from the golden days of Training and of course the usual suspects. Namely…Nivine, Zane, Chloe, Gregory, Chaouki, Jupiter and Guilherme. Knowing I had a late afternoon flight the next day, I went easy on the drinks, seeing the rest of the crew doing shots and downing those posh drinks one after the other. None the less, with Panadol in the bloodstream I was able to make up for the lack of booze and still have a hell a lot of fun down at Stink. The music there was the perfect genre we needed. 80’s. We laughed and guessed every upcoming song one after the other. Promising restaurant/dinners to whoever guessed the right song.

The next day was tough as I skipped some sleeping hours to make myself some hot tea with lemon in order to calm the aching throat a little. It did it’s part for the rest of the day. Enabling me to jet off to Paris. Got there safe and sound after a 7 hour flight and hoped in the folks ride to get home sooner and subsequently richer (read French Taxis entry earlier on this year…). Welcomed with a Gin & tonic, the warmth of the Parisian flat and chatted away with Mother and Father. Very nice. Dad had just finished digitalising the old slides so it was fun having a look at old pictures again. Soon after I was off again to catch up with mates down the road from my folks. Spent half the night there before I couldn’t keep my eyes open and decided to head back home sweet home for some much needed sleep.

The next day was nice too. Did nothing but lounge around. Taking care of the throat as you do… tea, juice, vitamins, croissants, pain au chocolat & co.

I didn’t mention but another French dude was on the flight with me, Medy. He was at the same Open Day as me back in November 2007. Geeeze, sounds like ages ago. Good fun onboard. As pax we had one of our good friend Matt who was going home for a couple days in between flights to get away from Dub-Dub.

I also managed to do my Christmas shopping the day before my CDG flight and got my cousin some cool stuff as well as managing to get myself another pair of sneakers and a brand new camera. The old one was getting old and seeing the prices, I just had to. So I’m now equipped with a 10 million pixel doodaaa which takes really good pictures. So I’m happy with that.

My trenchcoat came in extremely good use again as Paris was drenched with rain and cold air. Not pleasant at all.

Since then I came back in rocking Dubai. Strangely enough, the landing was unusual as it had rained ferociously just minutes before our approach. Seeing ground staff with yellow rain coats was a funny sight. Never in a million years had I thought I’d see rain in Dub-Dub ! After a good afternoon sleep, waking up at around nine in the evening, Tall Ben was already mugging my answering machine with weird and annoying messages. He probably left like 12 messages, with noize of about every single animal known to mankind before he got fed up. This is when I decided to pick up and get the latest news from the other side of SZR. And of course, another night out was being planned. We were to head out to Boudoir… On the way there we met with Chloe (another French chick) who’d just bought a new ride. So, as we do, we hoped in and enjoyed a Dubai by night tour on a Thursday. Needless to say we got caught in traffic and stood in lane for ages before reaching our goal : Boudoir. Happy chappy we got to the door and we were greeted by the usual Gorillaz. It was a NO GO as we should of booked a table to get in. Didn’t surprise us too much so we headed back to the car and went straight to ZINC of course. Got there at around 1 in the morning, to the pumping sound of some electro/dance DJ. The next set in the evening was pure crap. Dodgy R’n'B with an armless DJ spinning his records with his chin. That’s how bad it was. Nevermind the music we were already well under the influence of alcohol to actually give a crap about the music. Instead we were happy doing stupid dance moves and taking happy shots (check them out below !). We had the WHOLE brazilian mafia joining us later on and my Flatmate Kah Khan and myself decided to throw an after at home. So we did. All went absolutely fine except the gatecrashers. Who broke my picture frame in the corridor. Didn’t pay too much for it though, so I’m cool. But I can assure you they didn’t stay long after that. They were kindly hushed away by the rest of the crowd !!

Good times all around. Off to Chennai tonight, already cleaned the flat so there’s nothing to do tomorrow except maybe put the zillion glasses away in their cupboard. Before I post anything else I’d like to say thank you to anyone who visits this blog. The growing numbers push me to blabber even more, and with your comments it makes it even more interesting ! Also a big thank you to Nish & Salim who said hello at ZINC last night… Keep up the good looks !! Now check the pictures below for more shenanigans :
