Kicking off the new year with some kick ass tracks all the way from Mali. It comes as no surprise that this duo of blind individuals is part of my favourite artists. I already mentioned about them a while back and thought I’d share more stuff from their amazing new album called “Welcome To Mali”. They recently (last october) did a gig on Later With Jools Holland and we also have the mp3 to share. On the other hand, I have some cool covers you can download. It does not happen every day, but these tracks are ALL DOWNLOAD OR DIES !!!
First up is ‘Djama’ with it’s crazy synth bouh-bouh. I’m addicted, already ! Then a great mix of guitars and djembe on the track ‘Magosa’. A sidenote, the sound isn’t perfect, you might have to crank your system up to enjoy the track to it’s full potential. Following we have a great cover of Manu Chao’s ‘King Of Bongo’ by Shoops, a Canadian band on the verge of releasing their first album. Finally Pale Young Gentlemen covering M.I.A.’s hit song of the year ‘Paper Planes’.

They are going to Washington January 20th to perform at Obama’s inauguration day ! So happy for their success.
The Manu Chao cover is very good.
To shari, they didn’t go to Obama’s inauguration. They cancelled.
