What does Karl have to do with Airboy ?

If you tried to log on for most part of last night and stumbled open Karl Lagarfeld, we would like to apologize. But we hired this fashion guru dinosaur to shake things up here at the Airboy blog and redesign the whole thing for us. We are pretty much pennyless as of now but at least we have a stylish blog to work with ! As you will probably see, we have dramatically changed the look and feel of the website. It is drastically more user friendly and much more attractive ! We thought we’d do something different for 2009 and think we’ve done just that. The old design was getting out of date and I was getting fed up of it. This blog is now layed out as an online magazine, focusing on content and enabling us to show you more (one example would be the extra space we have added to the post contents area).

Most of you will discover this new layout today and we’d like to hear from you. Please, rate, comment and react to this big change. Constructive feedback appreciated ! Saying it ’sucks’ or  ‘go to hell with your new layout’ doesn’t actually help !

We like to take the opportunity to thank every single visitor for making this blog what it is now. The avid followers, the RSS readers and last but not least our beloved search engine robots, WE LOVE YOU !

The blogroll is not yet up, but will be in the very very very near future. Sorry about that, I had issues with the coding resulting in fuckeing up the whole thing. But I will work hard to get it up ASAP. In fact I will probably publish a whole page dedicated to the LinkLOVE…

Otherwise, I came back from Chennai and was crawling from CBC to my home. I was extremely tired after that trip. Thanks to a new service on Indian destinations and a chocka’ flight there and back. I’m glad I made it back actually. Next up is Zurich where I’ll indulge myself with chocolate. And with Melissa’s travel tips, I will have a great time !

Ohhh, nearly forgot. I managed – and this is something we can celebrate by dancing naked in the living – to swap one of my Jo’Burg trip for an extra 3 days off ! And what does a Flight Attendant do with sooooo much time off ??? Well he takes yet another plane to Paris and feel the snowy winter there with friends and family. So yeah, as soon as ‘Schedz’ approved this move on the portal… I was already booking my tickets. And to add to the greatness of it all, on my flight over to Paris on the 18th, a batchmate I had, named Mel (I also went to JFK with her) will be on the flight. Along with two other French colleagues I met on various trips around the world ! It’s gonna be mayhem at 36,000 feet ! I tell ya !

  1. I’m loving the new look Airboy! It seems a lot more streamlined and I’m not sure whether its just me but it seems to load heaps quicker too?
Whatever it is, I like the online mag look!…

  2. It probably loads better because there’s a lot less useless code than the previous design. And significantly less images too!

  3. I didn’t want you to have a dead link on your website, my address has changed from genevievehattingh.blogspot.com to danielleindubai.blogspot.com. It use to be called Pink Toes in Brown Sand, but we’ve done a total revamp and made things simpler, it’s now called Danielle’s Cabin Crew Blog.

It was a shock to see the new formatting for your blog, but it does work better once you get the hang of it. Would still like to see all the graphic images you use to put in the background (picture of you, Obama or the lamp). But it looks great.

We’ll be joining Emirates in Dubai in about two weeks to start training. Maybe we’ll do a Paris together someday.

    • Hey Danielle, thaanks for your comment. As for the extra graphics, they were slow to load in the previous layout, that is why I ditched them. Also your blog link doesn’t seem to work on my side! If you could send me the working one so I can update the blogroll. Cheers !

  4. Oooh, shiny and new… I likey…
Just to let you know, any links to bloggers on JournalSpace are now obsolete… sadly JS was hacked (allegedly by an ex-employee) and all blogs are now gone… including mine… *sob*

At least I had already moved over and got a start at Blogger when it happened…

  5. New site looks clean and crisp. It’s easy to navigate and read and looks great. However, I do miss the monthly schedule feature, which I always found interesting from a staffing and scheduling perspective (I’m ex-AA).

Most importantly, your content is interesting and fresh and frequently updated.

    Keep it up!

though i gotta tell ya, dat i kinda discovered this blog by mistake, but it turn out to be full of surprises!! pics, music and the A-Z joinin emirates, speaking of which, would have been of great use, if i had known this site earlier… but still i’ve managed my way across the recuitin’-jungle-process here in seville (SVQ) which lasted 5 days!!! some crazy stuff and patience….lots of patience…
anyway…think i’ll stick around and read all your crazy stories about club sandwich and kevin’s…

  10. Definately an improvement! Though I’m still partial to the whole lamp shade phase you had going on for a while.

Now if I knew how to code properly I could also get my site out of the doldrums…
