ears, ears, goddam ears!

deafcrew

If anyone is or has gone through what I am going through at this very moment : I feel your pain, let’s bond and make things easier on our bodies. To put things into context, a while ago I was in Shanghai and fell quite ill whilst on layover. Cold, runny nose and all the symptoms of Flu. Sinuses came into play later on that week… blocked and annoying me to the highest degree. Cold weather really doesn’t do me good as on my way back from Zurich, one of my ears (the left one to be precise) just went offline and sulked in the corner. Since then, it’s hasn’t apologized and made a comeback. I’m getting all worried and depressed to the fact that might be definate and have to live with a solo audio input for the rest of my dear little life.

I’m hearing in MONO, STEREO days are gone [for now]. Instead I have this constant whistling which is driving me absolutely ‘DINGUE’ (crazy in French). I also have, when trying my best to listen to music, cracks and scratches everytime there’s a kinda high pitched sound trying to force itself in there. Just like a diamond preparing to play a vinyl record. It’s very subtle but in every way annoying. And finally the inside of the ear (or what I describe as such) feels occupied by an unknown mass of some sort, not liquid or solid just Gas like, it feels like someone is blowing a balloon inside my left hear. And it’s growing by the hour.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the ordeal was linked in some way to my misadventures in Shanghai and the cold in Zurich. Now the most worrying part besides losing my audition, would be grounded here in Dubai until I recover, causing a right kerfuffle for my Paris trip I have planned out so gracefully and having to stay in Dub-Dub for more than 5 days. Which has never happened since Training College. All this put together is very depressing. To add to the already uncomfortable experience, I will head to the clinic tomorrow to find out what is wrong ! I will give you a timely update.

If any of you have some kind of history with ear problems, if anyone has knowledge about the symptoms and any outcome, tips, then I would be more than happy to hear (ahah! never thought I’d laugh reading that line) from you in the comment section below this post.

Aside from that, we’ve just replied to the 600th question on the FAQ since we got it running on the 1st of June 2008. The happy reader was and hopefully still is : Arathi from India. You are most welcome to send in your questions only if (and I mean it) it has not yet been answered in the FAQ or on the A to Z. Not every question will make it live on the page to avoid repeats but I can tell you it is very popular along with the A to Z which has just gone over the 13,000 visitor mark since January last year. I’d also like to mention the fact that all the content on Airboy is under copyright guidelines (read more about that here). If you’re a blog/website owner and would like to use some/all of my content, please drop me a line so I know where it ends up. I have witnessed a number of websites that blatantly copy and paste without crediting and I am not a fervent supporter of these actions. I do not bite, you can use my content, but having a credit is the least you can do.

Otherwise I also found this Graduation video on Youtube, thanks to cubanguy27 for uploading… You can also spot a famous PPrune activist in there [ ;-) ] :

On another rant, everyone is on leave, or flying and I’m left alone in the sandpit ! Enjoy your Monday peeps, I sure won’t ! Until the next entry ! Good bye !

  5. Is it blocked? Or is it damaged? I would have thought that if it was simply blocked then they could get that blockage out with a syringe… gross I know but if it gets you home recovered then totally worth it…

  7. Hey! I noticed that certain female cabin crew don long beige pants, whilst others don beige skirts. Is it due to their seniority or rank?
