  1. i want to know is the open day and the assessment mean the same

  2. Around three years ago Emirates advertised an Open Day in Toronto, which clearly indicated a start time of 9:00am. I found that a bit bizzare because Open Days indicate an open day where you come in at any time between 9:00am to 5:00pm. My friend and I got there at 9:20am and as we opened the door to the venue, a woman rushed to us and escorted us out saying we were late!! What why call it an Open Day at all. I told her the day should not have been called an Open Day, if we had to get there by a certain time. (I also think I got myself banned for life from EK interviews due to my attitude towards her because of this, but I’ve never been for an Emirates interview thereafter, so I really wouldn’t know lol). She did however take our resumes.

It seems like Emirates has finally been able to distinguish what an Open Day should be and what an Assessment Day should be!!! Now their Open Days say “Walk in anytime between 9am and 5pm”…Good on you, Emirates, you are finally getting your act together.

  3. When I mentioned the Open day above with the start time of 9am, it was 9:00am SHARP with no end time. So it was clearly on the style of what was actually an Assessment day but was incorrectly called an Open Day.

  4. Above it says 24th January south africa – Durban.

After seeing this, I bought my ticket and got everything ready for the interview.

Only one problem. This is no open day and I’ve just wasted R1 000 on an airticket.

Thanks to the guy who put this on the site!!!!

    • It is mentioned twice on this particular post to register on their website for their Open Days / Global Assessment days. Durban in this case is a Global Assessment day to which you have to apply and receive an invitation before being able to attend. I clearly make a statement on every single page saying :

  8. I’ve just had a look at Emirates’ Cabin Crew Global Assessment Days & Open Days website and I’ve noticed that most of the events are marked as “postponed until further notice”, with the exception of the Dubai events. Why do you think that might be?

As for myself, I’m waiting for my final approval email (after sending all medicals).

Strangely enough, I know two girls who were waiting for the same kind of response but instead received an email, which informed them that Emirates is changing their recruitment policies and has stopped hiring “until further notice”. They’re really disappointed.
Meanwhile, two other girls have already received their final approvals and are supposed to fly to Dubai up to the end of this month. They have no idea about that strange email.

I’ll wait until the 3-week waiting is over and, if I still hear nothing from the company, I’ll try to contact them.

I know you’re not supposed to know that much about Emirates, but have you any idea whether they’re changing their hiring policies or anything similar?

Sorry to bother you with this, but the waiting thing makes me deadly anxious…

    Thanks anyway.
