OOOhhh God, I haven’t posted any tracks in a long time ! Well, no more waiting folks, I have FOUR KILLER TUNES to share with you today. It’s raining here in Dubai, yesterday we saw hail smashing down our dirty windows and gust winds slashing lightweight kids away from their mothers… Today my habibis your stereo will endure the same treatment. All you have to do is crank up some volume up in there and enjoy Tonite Only’s remixes and one of the best mashups I’ve heard in a very long time. Just for the record, Tonite Only was unknown to me until a few days ago, when Oz, a wild Aussie here in Dubai (see pictures in previous posts), lended me a few CDs to listen to and rip ! This is when I heard track number 15 of a Ministry Of Sound compilation. I kept repeating the song which is a very good sign when I listen to new music. I finally found out the song name, artist and remix magicians.
Tonite Only was an electronic music group formed late 2005 in Sydney, Australia which disbanded late 2006. Its two members were Sam Littlemore (Sam La More) and Simon Lewicki (Groove Terminator), leading proponents in the electronic music scene. Their unique sound was a combination of Sam Littlemore’s production techniques with Simon Lewicki’s DJ experience. Their use of the vocoder, 1980s drum machines and pulse wave modulation was extensive.
They announced late 2006 that they would no longer be working together as Tonite Only and would focus on their respective solo careers.
However, the pair have recently resumed remixing together, with their new remix of Hook N Sling’s smash hit, The Best Thing. Tonite Only have remixed four top ten ARIA club singles. Most notably Pictures (song) by Sneaky Sound System (18 weeks at Number 1) and All This Love by The Similou (11 weeks at Number 1). With these two remixes, Tonite Only held the number one position in the Australian dance charts for over six months during 2006.
