Where will you be next ? The DOPPLR story

dopplrlatest

When I like something, I share it. This is why I come to you guys today and share some of my love for a very kinky social network. It’s called DOPPLR and helps people who travel often to broadcast (in a very private fashion) where they’ll be next. As an International Flight Attendant it comes in extremely handy.

Dopplr is an online service for smarter travel.

Dopplr helps you make more of your travels by sharing your future trips privately with friends and colleagues. The service then highlights coincidences, for example, telling you that three people you know will be in Tokyo when you will be there too. You can use Dopplr on your personal computer or mobile phone. It links with many popular online calendars and social networks.

How many times did you find yourself stranded in a hotel lobby not knowing what to do, stuck in your hotel room watching YouTube videos or even glued to the local TV station, watching the local soap in a language you suddenly try to understand. It has happened to me already, in Manilla. I was watching this cheesy program in Filipino for quite some time before I realised I didn’t understand a word they were saying.

That’s where DOPPLR comes in. The service lets you enter your future trips, location and dates. You submit, then a whole plethor of little wonderful piece of information about the destination pop-up automatically. It will scan your contacts and will let you know if a relative of yours is in the same town at the same moment. It will also give you tips on restaurants and places to go. The latest events etc. It’s a great tool to keep track of your colleagues/friends whereabouts. I strongly recommend the service for people who travel on a weekly basis (like Cabin Crew). The service is packed with extremely cool features. Check it out ! You can add me as a fellow traveller here : DOPPLR Airboy

One fabulous thing they have is a custom tailored annual report about your previous travels. You can download the one they made for me in 2008 :

  •   Dopplr Annual Report 2008 (376.1 KiB, 154 hits)
You need to be a registered user to download this file.

Many FA bloggers have adopted the service. You too start DOPPLING ! The more the merrier !
