May Roster detailed… I heart Crew Schedz!

newyorkevening

So you’ve probably guessed where I’ll be heading in May ! I didn’t expect much from Crew Scheduling this month as I was supposed to get a whole long month of reserve, homecalls and airport standby. None of that, nada, nicht, rien !! I got a full fledged roster with some nice layovers in tow ! Couldn’t ask for more ! New York, Shanghai, London, Jo’burg and some turnarounds here and there. And a Nujoum day in the middle of all that ! It’s great. I’ll be working like a horse thought as I’ll be clocking over 100 hours of chock-to-chock. Imagine how many hours that makes of actual duty time ! Well above your usual 9 to 5 !! The only problem this month will be moving out of Blue Building to a yet unknown location. I do not know how the hell I’m gonna manage that. We’ll see when time comes. Here’s the full roster :

1 2 3 4 5 6 7
DXB – SAH – DXB XX XX XX NJ DXB – AMM – DXB rest
8 9 10 11 12 13 14
DXB – PVG out PVG – DXB rest XX DXB – DEL – DXB rest
15 16 17 18 19 20 21
DXB – LHR LHR – DXB XX XX rest DXB – JFK out
22 23 24 25 26 27 28
JFK – DXB XX XX rest DXB – JNB out JNB – DXB
29 30 31
rest DXB – MLE – DXB XX

NJ stands for Nujoum. A special day offered by Emirates to push our own service boundaries a little further. I think there’s sport involved and… well… you know me, not a big fan of sport, especially if I need to break records.

In other news, I’m slowly getting ready for my SEP recurrent. Spent a good part of the afternoon at Training College to print some E-learning certificates and some crucial paperwork for the day. Also went for a lonely lunch at Dubai Festival City where I had a pricey Butter Chicken along with a naan. Loved it.

Finally, we’re getting extremely close to celebrating the 1000th comment posted on Airboy Blog. I will be sending a surprise gift to the person who posts comment number 1000. Please react with a valid email address so I can track you down for your personal details and shipment address. Winner to be announced as soon as we hit 1000 comments ! Happy discussions !

  1. What a fabulous roster! I’d love to see any of those on mine! Getting very sick of sitting on reserve after 2 months of pretty much just that!

Did Sched explain why you got that roster instead of reserve? Is it due to running flights with min crew now?

  4. Hmm usually you don’t need to register to read, do you get the little ‘corner’ on the page? Sometimes they’re a bit picky with where you need to click!:P

Very curious as to who the 1k commenter will be! This reminds me of JS, that was a game we played there…

  9. Congrats on your schedule! I heart my crew schedz too….because of a computer error( I should have held my first choice and didn’t) I get to scratch the lousy line I was awarded and build my line from scratch with our open time before it’s available to anyone else!!!! Yahooooooo: )

  11. I wish I could build my own line. Or get a roster for that matter! It’s 2 days late and not a peep from the company :(

  12. JFK is for meeeeeeee and meeeeee only ! Didn’t expect it so keeping it. Want my LHR ?? Or even my JNB ? I’d be more than happy to get rid of those two.

  13. Be brave, the NJ day isnt THAT bad…. im just a little sad that I won’t be facilitating on that day… Go in with an open mind (and closed shoes – in case you were planning on wearing heals/flip flops) and you will enjoy the day!

ive never been so fortunate to skip rsv… i guess i have always been so junior in my grade! enjoy! im very jealous!!!

  14. You’ve gat a great month of trips. Have you been able to hold LAX yet?

    Posted by caleb1 | April 28, 2009, 5:20 am
    • Not yet, it’s Ultra Long Haul so I usually avoid it. But I’m desperado to be in LAX or SFO. Just to say I’ve been there and show off my pictures ! 17 hours stuck with pax cools you down a little though.

      Posted by Sodwee | April 28, 2009, 5:34 am
  15. You should defiantly try hard to get a lax. Out of all the EK blogs I read nobody has written about lax. I would love to hear an Ek cabin crew’s perspective on my hometown.

  16. hey dude, just writing to say i love your website thingy ma bob :p i work for air new zealand tasman pacific as a flight attendant. would love to read more about crazy/weird/funny things that happen on your flights :)

  17. The flights to IAH take as long as the flights to SFO & LAX???

    DXB-LAX 16h35m LAX-DXB 15h55m
    DXB-SFO 16h00m SFO-DXB 15h35m
    DXB-IAH 16h20m IAH-DXB 14h55m

Now this is sheer heaven, to be up there for 16 hours and more :)

    Posted by M | April 29, 2009, 7:26 am
    • Yes polar flights (LAX & SFO) equal the near polar flight (IAH). The reason behind IAH being as long as SFO or LAX is that IAH flight has to come down with the curve of earth a little earlier and therefore covers a longer distance… does that make sense ???

  18. Hey dude, long time reader first time poster, and I gotta say, you have some blog going here – the layout is awesome, not to mention the ridiculous life you Emirates cabin crew lead! Always had a passion for airplanes/flying, and always wanted to try out being crew, so your blog has motivated me to apply for Emirates (if EK ever does start hiring again!).

Btw, congrats on your roster, the weather is now beautiful out here in NYC, hit me up if you ever want a local (well, not really but I live here now) to recommend cool stuff for you guys to do in NYC during the Spring!

    • Thanks Arun ! I was planning on doing a night out at the Apollo theater for the amateur thingy they have running weekly. Because I would love to see that theater and the surprise guest. Have you been to any of those ?

      Posted by Sodwee | April 29, 2009, 5:34 pm
  19. I was aware that all LAX, SFO and IAH take the polar routes out of DXB. It just seemed strange that IAH would be longer, but I guess it is more south than the rest.

  20. btw, any word if Emirates is ever going to fly to YVR?

    ..read it on wikipedia. :D

    Posted by Darylle | April 30, 2009, 5:07 am
  21. You know, I’ve never been to the Apollo but I hear great things about it – apparently it’s really funny. It’s a bit of a trek to 125th St. though. I actually can get pretty heavily discounted tickets to the show (and broadway shows as well) through work, I’d be happy to hook you up with some if you’d like!

Good luck on your recurrent training by the way, hope it went well!
