Hey! It’s been tremendous. Almost two years ago I started this whole thingy. Just posting for my friends and family. Keeping them updated with the whole recruitment process and how I managed to join Emirates Airline as a Cabin Crew. Now, look at it today… I wouldn’t of thought a second I would be writing entries for that many people around the world. Updating you guys on what seems to be a dream job. I said seems because I don’t write about the downsides that much… I have visited so many places since I started. By the end of May I will have covered 45 different cities and 5 continents, met so many cool people (I won’t start naming any, just have a look at the pictures… lol). When I take a step back and look at it, all I can think off is how lucky I am to be part of this whole thing. Blogging takes a huge part of my spare time and having such a following is a blessing. It motivates me. Instant feedback through the comments is also a great way for me to improve and write more. Today we celebrate the 1000th comment posted on Airboy and hope we can celebrate 5000 in the coming months. This blog is only interesting for me when people get involved. Helping people get over the Emirates recruitment is also one of the best thing I have done apart from getting myself out of the Pub/Bar industry in Paris (I loved it don’t get me wrong, but it’s ooooh sooo unhealthy). After all that I’d like to thank all of the commenters, and Steve, I’m not a robot lol, I also have feelings. As you may see in the screencapture I took earlier this morning, I also get a cargo load of spam. And without the best antispam available to date (Akismet) it would be a whole different story for me as I’d have to delete many of them (to date, akismet has protected the blog from 6,039 spam comments). And I just realised that on March 9, 2009, at 7.00pm a whollaping 129 of you logged in at the same time ! Absolutely insane !
Ok, I’m done with the boring speech, let’s get down to business. The surprise gift, will remain a surprise until the winner gets it. I don’t want to spoil it. I will contact him/her in the next few hours (via email) for their personal details as well as a shipping address. You’ll receive the gift within a week or two, depending on how fast a FedEx 747-400 can go. Or if we’re out of luck, and FedEx fucks up, you’ll have to pick up the piece in Narita, Tokyo (Bad Taste ?? Sorry, cam’t help it). So, the winner is :
Again, thank you all for taking part in the blog. I appreciate mucho ! You make me laugh on a daily basis ! Also please do not forget to check out all the other Flight Attendant Blogs out there, and I have the best ones for you in the blogroll on the right hand side here… But do so only when you’ve finished reading this and you have commented ! Ahaha. So I guess I now have to write “M” a lovely email ! More contests like this one will be organized with more exciting prizes to be won ! Stay tuned. Peace out homedogs, I need some sleep now : I’m supposed to be studying SEP tomorrow during the day…. I guess that won’t happen and I’ll be waking up in time for dinner. OOOh wellll. That was another hilarious day in The Sandpit.
Ohh, and I would never compare ANY of my readers to Susan Boyle ! I thought that was a killer picture to illustrate the entry. I’ve added it below for your personal enjoyment :

BWAHAHAHA!!! Took me a second for the Narita joke… ah well, we aviation folk have a twisted sense of humour, we all know that!
Glad for M, he made a lot of effort with the comments… despite protests that he doesn’t want to be the winner, it is too funny!
Congrats on making the big 1k in comments (not including spam!) and making such a good resource for all the EK newbies and wannabes out there.
Blog on!
OMG!! It’s me LOL.. Now I feel terrible.. Maybe I should NOT have blogged so much today!! I might have a solution to your delivery of your gift to me, which might not include FedEX at all. I’ll keep you posted!
Seriously checking your blog DAILY and now seeing my name “M” in lights has really made my day! The shocking 28 degrees heat today, and the resulting headache has all but now gone seeing myself as the winner. WOO HOO!!
KEEP POSTING DAILY AIRBOY, AND WE’LL KEEP READING (AND COMMENTING) – Caps Intentional!
Cool, Susie ! i love you.
I posted the 1001st comment! lost one minute with M! sigh… haha
Two things, firstly FedEX does not fly those 747-400s! Just those tragic MD-11s that have suffered flip overs while landing! Terrible! And the last accident was at Tokyo Narita…I guess that is what your joke implied, but then that is the awful truth. Can’t be helped.
And secondly, how appropriate that you put up Susan Boyle’s pic to celebrate this auspicious ceremony of the 1000th post! LOL. Susan Boyle was undiscovered for years, and even sneered upon before she sang, and guess what now she is a star!! Which makes me wonder if I’ll be discovered (hopefully not sneered upon) and then become an FA LOL..Wishful thinking.
Wouldn’t it be lovely if they had an FA IDOL..LOL!! You, Melissa and Carine could be the judges LOL.. Okay I’m talking nonsene now and you can tell I am still highly intoxicated from my win!! But believe me going to those Open days felt like going to one of these auditions…!!!
I could totally see myself in Simon Cowell’s seat for FA idol.
I was going to mention that in my post, but I thought you might consider it rude…Seriously with the slight “British” accent you have interlined with that French background, you’d make a good Simon Cowell LOL…You’d be “Monsieur Sodwee” on zee FA Idol!!
I have been saying for the laast 4 years that thhey need to do a show called ‘Airline Idol’ (well, maybe not that exactly) and follow around behind-the-sscenes at open days and interviews.
Can you imagine?! The bitching, the fake smiling, the nice ones, the tragic ones, the ones with no clue (e.g. wearing jeans to an interview!)
Fabulous! Hmmm… that would actually make a really good blog post… be back later…!
ahahah totally ! I think we could even script that and sell it to Endemol.
In that case they need to have a Cabin Crew reality show. There was a Pakistani drama that revolved around PIA FA and the issues she faced. It was very good, shot all over the world, New York, London, to name a few. If it came with subtitles you all could enjoy it I guess.
FA IDOL would be restricted to just the open days where you present yourself, and either pass it or not…
From here you make it to the reality show LOL
Yeah that would be reaally funny. I do recall there was one on cable here (American show) called ‘Flight Attendant School’, but I think the interview process first would be interesting!
Hang on, so would Carine be Paula or would I? LOL
Melissa, you could go as Kara DioGaurdi
the newest Idol judge LOL…Okay then who takes over as Randy…Clauderic LOL
