July roster detailed, NEW LAVIATORS, Dubai Bloggers meet…and more…

Hey I have a lot to catch up with while I’m in Kuala Lumpur and able to connect to the world wide webz. First of all, I’d like to thank Melissa from TampaxTowers and Clauderic for the great afternoon we had in Dubai Mall last Friday amongst a heard of deadly “Kevins” and “Jennifers”. Yes we had a meet up after one year or so in Dubai… Why so late you might ask ?? Well we wouldn’t know how to answer. It’s just one of these things you cannot explain. We had a great time. We planned a little ice skating session to begin things gently but later realised that it wasn’t so gentle on our bodies as Clauderic went down on his knees and hurt himself, poor thing, such a woozie. Thus declaring forfait for the skating and kept on watching us going round the rink for another 15 minutes. Anyway, we kept skating along with Melissa and improved on our ability to adopt sharp turns and stops in order to avoid any unwanted collision with little emiratis in their white dish-dashas, complete with their blue skate… fun sight that is, I can tell you ! We then came to realise some little miss sunshine here on the ice was actually outdoing us totally. She was spining, doing tricks and combos and that totally put me off, I felt so ashamed. Did a couple more rounds until the staff had to call us out to rejuvenate the metling ice. We called the session to an end and got our sneakers back on for some grubs.

And as promised, we headed straight to Kayser’s little bakery in the underground. Melissa is in her green salad phase, so she had a salmon and roquette mix, Clauderic on the other hand went for a really nice looking piece of steak and chips. I skipped any mains and went straight for a delicious raspberry on creme patissiere and sponge cake thingy. “Summer Delice” it was called. I ended trothing the darn cake it was that good ! I had a side order of Chouquette to let my two colleagues have a little sample ! They apparently liked it ! Especially Clauderic who had to finish the last one…

Anyway, it was great catching up on some crew gossip as one would do, getting to know each other a little bit more and enjoy the spaced out Arabic Smurfs in the background having a blast with the neurotic kids. And I also want to thank Melissa for her kindness and her gifts : A Mini Cup Noodle holder as well as a Swedish IKEA catalogue !!! COLLECTOR !

Now, I haven’t updated you guys on the move for quite some time but things have definetaly settled down. Oli and Oz have also moved in, bringing a little more life to the place and it’s nice to have some other souls to fool with ! We all decided to buy BMXs so we could terrorize the neighbourhoos and specifically the Emirates Greens, which is a kind of gated community for rich expats. Husband working, wifes at home with the maid and the kids… that kind of gated community… Quite a boring crowd until you get some BMX fishtail action going on with the prams, sending the mums and maids into a roaring anger… We discovered we had Wagamama, KFC, Burger King and McDonalds within cycling distance which was a great relief. Here’s a picture of my BMX. It’s happily named RAMBO, Oz’s one is nicknamed Silvia for some obscur reasons and finally Oli’s his named Cobra. As a group, you can now call us “The Greens Angels”.

That picture was taken late at night at McDonalds (it’s open 24hrs : life-saver I say !). We had cycled around TECOM most of the evening trying to find our way round the dust filled building sites and half-built roads and thought a Chicken Gourmet would help us conquer the countryside.

That same day, we noticed a little note in the elevator that went :

TODAY:

MOVE IN MAYHEM BBQ
from 4pm at the pool on the 27th floor

Brought to you by the Facebook group :

“TECOM Socialite Brigrade”

Bring your own drinks & food.

What better way to end the day, lazing in the pool and fooling around like little jerks…, those were the views from the pool :

That was great, not only do we get the views and real cool pool. But we also get a BBQ ready to use !! Imagine the wicked evening we’re going to be spending up there !!

Now onto some more serious stuff. My July roster. It was late out. We have no idea why, still. But I think they’re building it manually for a number of flights, therefore delaying the publishing. But I received my roster via email. It might change when the real thing comes out. But here it goes. I’m especially happy about the Singapore – Melbourne trip. I’ve been wanting a long trip for a while now and this is kinda perfect. Not too long and not too short ! Add the fact that we have a stopover in Singapore… which is WICKED ! Black Pepper Chicken, here I come !

I’m pretty happy, some variety, some east, some west… Might try to swap one or two Frankfurt for something else, Paris hopefully !

That’s it from me in Kuala Lumpur. Will come back with a full report on the eventful flight we had over and the time spent here in Kuala Lumpur. Do take care, keep sane and keep reading ! Peace out fools !

Finally, I’d like to introduce you to 4 new Laviators. Rick from New Zealand, John from an unknown location, Deon from South Africa and Oz from Australia :

Maybe you want to join ? There’s nothing easier ! A little imagination will take you far. Grab your camera, sneak it into the lavs along with your favourite tabloid and get crazy in there ! The funnier the better ! There’s a bunch of props on hand, for free, to play around with. Seat covers, tissues, sick bags, tooth brushes… just to give you ideas… Then head over to the LAVIATORS CLUB and send me your picture or fill out the form below. Here are all the laviators so far :

Sodwee, i think you are a lucky bastard to have a pool and a view like that. :) okey, the cranes and dust is not so cool, but still…
i see you will have a Tripoli-Tunis flight, i suppose the layover is in the latter.
don’t miss Sidi bou Said and the Medina of Tunis, as well as a coffee in a terrace on Avenue Bourguiba – i know you like watching people passing by. :)
