Airboy’s Podcast : Episode One [Updated: get it with iTunes]

podcast-artwork01[UPDATE] Now you can subscribe to the podcast via iTunes directly from your desktop. But why ? Well, it will download automatically to your iTunes Library so you won’t miss any future shows. As an added benefit for those of you who do actually subscribe via iTunes, you will also get the DOWNLOADABLES straight to your iTunes Library. Ain’t It COOL ?? So to do so, you’ll have to follow 3 simple steps :

  1. Open iTunes.
  2. Click “Advanced” in the top menu bar. Then select “Subscribe to Podcast…”
  3. A text field should appear. Copy and paste this URL : http://240plan.ovh.net/~redcandy/airboy/feed/ . Click “OK”.
  4. That’s it ! When we publish audio content on the blog, it will automatically be downloaded to your desktop ! Don’t you love technology ??

OR, click on the iTunes image further down…

It’s been a long time in the making. Countless hours of planning (not so much in fact), equipment buying, nerve-wracking recording and endless editing. It’s 48:08 in length and I’m pretty proud of this new little thing. There’s a few glitches and sound issues mainly due to the fact that I recorded the interview with my laptop microphone, way before I got my jazzy big ass USB mic and recorded the rest of the podcast with it. And I must say it was a good buy ! The sound you will hear was improved greatly. It’s our first attempt at hosting a show, bear that in mind, when you laugh at my shyness. Thankfully Oz (Airmale), joined in to make it more lively. I’d like to thank him and Doyle for letting me record them. It was a blast.

airboy-itunesWe’ll try our best to have one monthly and have as many people join in as possible.

Also in the podcast are some kick ass tunes that I’ll most probably be adding to the blog’s DOWNLOADABLES. Please file in your complaints, reactions and other thoughtful comments in the comment section of this blog entry or send me an email via the contact page.

The Podcast is available as a stream online, by clicking the play button below or play it in a pop-up window by clicking the image on the RIGHT SIDEBAR of this page (so you can carry on browsing). The latter is recommended so you can still do whatever you have to do and have our zexy voices in the background. Another alternative is to download the entire podcast to your desktop and play it through iTunes (which, hopefully, you all have) or any other MP3 player. Take it with you on your layover, on your jogging session or your first date. Whichever place you listen to the podcast I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it.

That’s it. The podcast should be available until the next one is published. I’ll also try to have it on the iTunes Store so you can all subscribe and it will download automatically when it reaches the heavens of the interwebs.

SO ! Go forward and listen :

Airboy's Podcast

.
And/or download it to your desktop :

Thanks again to Oz and Doyle for taking part in this and to you people for downloading and listening.

  3. Sweet… reminds me at first of when I was 10 and my brother sister and I used a tape recorder (popular back in the 80s) and pretended to have our own radio station… Can’t wait for the next installment… It’s cute to see how shy you seem to be lol and the homosexual comment lol I was rolling on the floor :) .

    Now for criticism :)

The A380 started flying in July 2008 not the end of August. Singapore Airways started A380 service to CDG already , so EK will not be the first there. Engine on off ? mmm.Absolutely Loved the 3Ss ,The incorporation of the PA into the music endind, and lots of smart and fun things like that, and let’s not forget the attitude ! LOVE IT.

    Well done :)

    • Thank you Clauderic for your constructive feedback. Apart from the obvious mistakes. Remember the interview was recorded over a month ago thus explaining some currentness issues with pieces of news.

Anyway, thanks for commenting. Maybe you’d like to appear in the next one. We could have a “Clauderic’s Guide to Pilosophy” segment or a “moaning minute” segment in which you would be perfect !

ahahah. Only joking (actually that’d be fun).

  4. Ben, we know that now the blog has a new player, but, “who the hell is Oz”? We know about you, but there is nothing about him… I think he’s a kind of holography with voice like Princes Leia from Star Wars sending remote messages to Luke and Han Solo… (ok, it was quite nerd)

For the first podcast it was great. I wish some day hear you interviewing a pilot (or first officer)… I know it’s not that easy to arrange this, but it would be a must!!!

  7. Are they truly “hand picked” like the FA crew member joked about it. In that case, I guess there won’t be a bag of “mixed nuts” in that group hee, hee. Airboy you seem faint in the sound in comparison to your guest being interviewed, get closer to the mike! (If you read my blog about the inaugural A380 out of Toronto, I noticed the A380 crew did seem a bit more upbeat than the “mainfleet” crew).
So glad to hear about the Toronto inaugural. As well as the showers & the bar lounge area.

Very interesting about not getting paid until the “engines turn on”. So basically if you go to the airport, the flight is delayed and say cancelled after 2 hours, you turn back and not get paid?

Btw the Air France A380 will be flying to Dubai as well. So it looks like the Airbus A380 will be flying with both EK and AF on that route.

Will listen to more after the A380 discussion later.

  8. Just listening to the rest of the podcast, starting at the Dubai Metro….”It’s not an old train….but it actually looks new”…No drinking before you talk on the podcast again, Oz ;-) . Ben, you think these podcasts would someday make it on your ICE systems!! Would be great to listen to while flying those long haulers!

Ben, I’m trying to locate the schedules, maps and found some. However would you be able to list the stops, and if any stop is worthwhile getting off at? (I’m not sure how many are actually operational)I know they have a full day ticket -14 Dhs, get off and get on ticket so that is good.
