Tattoos & Emirates. Flash Update. The Red Polo Case.

A number of alarming emails have been sent to me in the past week or so concerning Tattoos and the new Training guidelines recently introduced and sent out to the new joiners. The new guidelines for personal grooming include a strict policy on Tattoos, piercings and Henna.

Recently, the training department has redesigned the whole starter pack for the new joiners and it includes wearing a Red Polo shirt for the duration of the Safety & Emergency Procedures Training (2 weeks) until Customer Service Training where you’ll be given your full Cabin Crew Uniform. This Red Polo will be provided by Emirates (you will get two items). Due to this change, and the fact that now your arms will be uncovered (Male crew specifically), they have introduced a new policy, and it clearly states :

No other items other than those mentioned should be worn with the uniform. Visible piercings, tattoos or henna is not permitted.

In effect, the policy applies to both male and female Cabin Crew as demonstrated on the chart (left).

If you have any other doubts about this new policy, and you’re about to join the Cabin Crew Training, please seek further information by contacting the person in charge of your file. I will look further into that and let you guys know when I have further details.

Sam, yes EK has started ab-initios already but has probably given the green light to people held in the pool before you. Your turn should come soon. I suggest you get in touch with the contact you have within Emirates (HR).
